Our client is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Men’s Senior Associate Designer to work with a better market client in the tailored sportswear category. Must have experience with constructed jackets, outerwear, shirts, and trousers. This role is ideal for someone with a strong sense of trend awareness, technical design knowledge, and fabric development. Must be able to travel to fabric mills and accounts and present to Buying/Merchandising and Product Development teams to bring seasonal concepts to life, ensuring alignment with brand identity and market trends. This job can be based in NYC or, if remote, must be available to travel frequently to clients nationally and overseas for fabric mills and factory development.
- The salary range for this role is $80,000 – $100,000 based on experience.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation of trend-right, brand-appropriate designs across multiple categories.
- Develop and execute sketches, CADs, and technical flats with attention to fit, construction, and fabrications.
- Collaborate with a team in multiple overseas locations to adapt to the US market.
- Research and analyze market trends, competitors, and customer preferences to inform design direction.
- Participate in fittings and make recommendations for garment adjustments and improvements.
- Work closely with the fabric and trim teams to select appropriate materials that align with design intent and cost requirements.
- Contribute to the seasonal color palette and print development with the sales & design team.
- Maintain and update fabric and trim libraries.
- Partner with merchandising, product development, and production teams to ensure design feasibility and cost efficiency.
- Communicate design intent to vendors and manufacturers, ensuring samples align with the vision.
- Review lab dips, strike-offs, and trims to ensure color and material accuracy.
- Create and maintain detailed tech packs for overseas and domestic vendors.
- Ensure all design files, sketches, and tech packs are organized and current.
- Participate in fittings, approvals, and design meetings to track progress and meet key deadlines.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in Men’s fashion/apparel design, focusing on Men’s Tailored/Constructed Wear-to-Work categories
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and PLM software
- Ability to create detailed technical flats, CADs, and tech packs
- Solid understanding of garment construction, fabrics, washes, and trims
- Strong knowledge of fashion trends, competitive landscape, and retail markets
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Excellent communication skills with experience collaborating across teams
