The Licensed Creative Arts Therapist will provide individual and group treatment for patients in order to facilitate their recovery and return to the community. The Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) will document initial assessments, weekly notes, and multi-disciplinary treatment plans of assigned patients in order to develop a psychotherapeutic plan of care as an integral part of the multidisciplinary treatment program.
Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group treatment using creative arts therapy techniques in music, art, and dance.
- Perform and document weekly assessments throughout patient's stay.
- Participate and present in clinical conferences and all medical center performance improvement activities and practices.
- Recognize, address and utilize therapeutic creative arts interventions to facilitate mastery and coping.
- Demonstrate range of creative arts techniques for support of patient during procedures.
Experience:
- Masters in a Creative Art Therapy, New York State License or limited permit eligibility to practice Creative Arts Therapy required.
- Two - three years experience required with at least one year of experience on an inpatient unit.
- Creative Arts Therapist is required to have a level of expertise in a specific creative art, such as art, music, and/or dance.
- Knowledge and ability to integrate historical and current client issues.
