Job Summary
The City of St. Peters is seeking a passionate and creative Art Specialist (Writing) to lead engaging writing programs within our instructional art camp. This role is responsible for developing curriculum, overseeing program activities, and fostering a supportive environment for aspiring writers. Mandatory training for instructors and counselors will take place on May 22-23, and 27th-31st. Camp sessions run from July 28 through August 1, 2025.

Normal Shift:
Monday- Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop, refine, and implement writing-focused programs aligned with camp objectives and City policies.
  2. Design and lead writing workshops, encouraging creativity and skill development in various literary forms.
  3. Establish and enforce safety and risk management procedures for participants, staff, and equipment.
  4. Set and uphold standards for program operations, customer service, and participant engagement.
  5. Supervise and coordinate daily writing program activities.
  6. Manage check-in and check-out procedures for participants.
  7. Provide excellent customer service and maintain clear communication with staff, participants, and families.
  8. Ensure compliance with City safety standards and policies.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  1. Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
  2. Bachelor of Arts Degree in related field, and two (2) years of applicable experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  3. One (1) year experience working with children.
