Graduate Assistant - Sports Communication

Muskingum University invites applications for two Graduate Assistant positions in Sports Communication. This position assists the Assistant Athletic Director and Director of Sports Communication with all facets of the Sports Communication Office.

These positions are expected to begin on August 1, 2025 for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 academic years. Graduate Assistant benefits include a monthly stipend, a full tuition waiver for completion of a graduate degree offered by Muskingum University, campus-owned housing, and a meal plan.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assist in day-to-day operations of the Sports Communication Office, including serving as the primary contact for assigned sports.
2. Create and publish digital content for assigned sports, including written, photo, and video content.
3. Help manage Muskingum’s athletic social media platforms.
4. Supervise gameday statistical and video operations for home events.
5. Update content, such as bios, rosters, schedules, statistics, press releases, articles, etc., on the University athletics webpage.
6. Work with student-athletes, coaches, and administrators on the distribution of content.
7. Maintain statistical and historical data.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

1. Undergraduate degree.
2. Acceptance or ability to be accepted into Muskingum University Graduate Program.
3. Ability to follow the NCAA Division III philosophy and OAC and Muskingum guidelines.
4. Ability to collaborate and participate as an active member of the athletic department and the University community.
5. Good organizational and management skills.
6. Excellent interpersonal and writing skills.
7. Ability to work evenings and weekends.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

1. Experience in a sports information or sports communications office.
2. A working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, In Design, Premiere Pro).
3. A working knowledge of stat programs (StatCrew, Presto Sports, NCAA Live Stats).
