We’re seeking a talented and creative Ancillary Designer to join our dynamic team! Reporting to the Design Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping modern work environments through innovative furniture layouts and specifications. As an Ancillary Designer, you’ll collaborate with Sales, Account Managers, and Project Managers to create cohesive and inspiring designs that meet client needs while ensuring precision and compliance. You’ll take the lead in the visual design process, crafting furniture specifications and installation drawings for a wide range of exciting projects. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drive Customer Engagement through visual storytelling.
- Develop Strategic Relationships within the industry.
- Participate in the design process from programming to installation with internal and external clients.
- Coordinate with Head of Creative to champion creative efforts for the Design Department.
- Attend vendor presentations and product training, and outside industry events as required.
- Participate in RFP presentations, product specifications, and showroom tours.
- Plan workspaces using AutoCAD and CET; other software as required.
- Produce renderings for layouts using CET.
- Procure quotes from various vendors and create specifications in Spec for order entry.
- Ensure all plans and specifications adhere to local fire, safety, electrical, and ADA codes.
- Communicate with design firms, general contractors, electricians, and other trades for furniture-related deliverables.
- Complete site verifications and field measurements when required.
- Participate in specification checks for KBM-Hogue designers’ work.
- Working knowledge and application of product discounting and margins.
- Track billable and non-billable time and submit a weekly report to the leadership team.
- Create design budgets and track budgets to actual per project.
- Build and maintain working relationships with global partners.
Qualifications
- BA in Interior Design/Architecture or equivalent work experience (4-6 years)
- Working knowledge of the design process from programming through installation
- 2+ years of furniture dealership experience preferred
- 2+ years of AutoCAD and CET experience preferred
- 2+ years of Spec experience preferred
- Superior attention to detail
- Effective time management/prioritization skills (must be able to execute multiple projects simultaneously)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Encompass the spirit of teamwork and collaboration
- Have a passion for furniture
- Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, Windows, Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, and Zoom
- Understands KBM Hogue's standing in the community and abides by our strong core values and beliefs
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Travel: 0 - 5%; travel to the local KMB Hogue office (San Jose, San Francisco, and Sacramento), client sites, and overnight domestic travel may be required
- Classification: Exempt
- Work Location: San Jose or San Francisco
- Work Schedule: 100% from home or hybrid with a minimum of three (3) days on-site (weekly)

The annual salary range for this role is $95,000.00 - $105,000.00. This range reflects the anticipated compensation for the role at the time of this posting, but actual compensation may vary based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. The salary range may be adjusted in the future, and we will provide notice of any changes in compliance with applicable laws.
