Job Summary

ConocoPhillips Alaska, Inc. is Alaska’s largest crude oil producer and largest owner of exploration leases, with approximately 1 million net undeveloped acres at year-end 2023. The company produced an average of 195 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day (MBOED) in 2023. ConocoPhillips Alaska holds major ownership interests in two of North America’s largest legacy equivalent per day conventional oil fields, both located on Alaska’s North Slope: Kuparuk, which the company operates, and Prudhoe Bay. Additionally, ConocoPhillips Alaska owns and operates several fields on the Western North Slope. The company also has an ownership interest in the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System and owns and operates the Polar Tankers fleet.

Position Overview

Located on Alaska’s North Slope in the National Petroleum Reserve (NPR-A), the Willow project is estimated to produce 180,000 barrels of oil per day at its peak. During construction, Willow is expected to create around 2,500 jobs, with a majority of labor provided by union workers. The development is estimated to create approximately 300 permanent jobs.

The economic impact of the Willow project will be sizable. According to the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) estimates, Willow could generate between $8 billion and $17 billion in new revenue for the federal government, the state of Alaska, the North Slope Borough, and local communities. The initial phase of Willow development will include a new Willow Central Processing Facility, three drill sites, pipelines, roads, bridges, and supporting infrastructure.

Scope Summary

The Willow project is spread over several phases and areas:

  1. 2023 – 2025 – Detailed Design
  2. 2023 – 2024 – Willow Operations Center Fabrication
  3. 2025 – 2027 – Willow Operations Center North Slope Installation and Commissioning
  4. 2025 – 2027 – Willow Central Processing Facility / Drill Site Sealift Module Fabrication
  5. 2027 – 2029 – Willow Central Processing Facility / Drill Site North Slope Installation and Commissioning

Willow will be a greenfield design including all processing facilities, utilities, drilling equipment, camp, and power generation.

Your Responsibilities May Include:

  • Install and provide support for the Motorola two-way radio infrastructure, including portable and mobile radios, controllers, gateways, repeaters, and Avtec consoles
  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on all installed 2-way radio systems
  • Ensure the proper installation, operation and maintenance of the Air-to-Ground VHF radio system
  • Plan and schedule system upgrades and maintenance to minimize service disruptions
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date documentation of the installed 2-way radio system topology
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless support delivery to operations
  • Assist with the existing brownfield 2-way radio systems as needed

Basic/Required:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Valid/Current Driver License
  • 3 or more years of experience with Motorola 2-Way Radio systems
  • 3 or more years of experience with Service Monitor, Spectrum Analyzer
  • Intermediate knowledge of communications tower installations of two-way radio system components
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to work a 14 days on/14 days off rotational schedule on the North Slope of Alaska
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) on occasion, to safely perform physical labor including climbing ladders/stairs, walking, standing, stooping, sitting, lift and carry material up to 20lbs

Preferred:

  • 5 or more years of experience with UHF/VHF technologies
  • Cisco CCNA Certification or 3 or more years of Network experience
  • FCC General Radiotelephone Operators License
  • Advanced proficiency and experience with telecom infrastructure in a large enterprise environment including the installation and support of Land Mobile Radio, network hardware, microwave radios, and supporting telecom equipment
  • Intermediate knowledge of Motorola R56 Standard
  • Intermediate knowledge of the Genesis GW3 monitoring software
  • Beginner level knowledge of IP based remote consoles
  • Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to adhere to ConocoPhillips safety processes and protocols
  • Self-driven and proactive, skilled at managing multiple tasks simultaneously while staying focused on the broader project objectives
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to deliver practical solutions and meet goals
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across organizational boundaries
  • Strong commitment to safety, ethics, and accountability in all aspects of the role
