Job Description

The Wisconsin State Journal, south-central Wisconsin's leading news source, is seeking a smart and aggressive reporter to report on the people and trends driving higher education in Wisconsin, including the world-class research institution at UW-Madison.

This is a high-impact, high-visibility beat, requiring an ability to write with depth and nuance on deadline with an emphasis on enterprise stories. Forever young, Madison is renowned for its beauty, outdoor recreation opportunities and a strong food and entertainment scene.

Experience in accountability reporting, aggressive use of public records law, and a high comfort level working with data is required, as is an aptitude or desire to shoot video. At least three years of daily newspaper reporting experience preferred. Past educational coverage is desired, but a can-do attitude and demonstrated work ethic matter more.
