Skywalk Pharmacy has an opportunity for a Prior Authorization Pharmacy Technician Coordinator on their team!
This role offers a $2500 sign on bonus!
Location : Summit Offices in West Allis
Hours:
8-430 M-F
What you will do:
Dedicated member of the Pharmacy Department who is responsible for assisting patients as they flow through the continuum of care. Acts as liaison between patient, provider, pharmacy, insurance providers and other third parties Responsible for obtaining medication insurance coverage or assistance and benefit information, authorization of medications Reviews electronic medical record (EMR) for patients to collect any pertinent information needed to submit, appeal, and resolve prior authorizations and medication refill requests. (such as diagnoses, past medical history, past prescription history) Assists in obtaining updated prescription authorization for existing patients. Updates the patient, provider's office, any necessary parties through multiple methods as appropriate (including but not limited to phone, in-basket messaging, and electronic medical record) regarding responses and outcomes of prior authorizations and medication refills. Read, interpret and effectively communicate information from insurance documents, electronic medical records, patient charts Is proficient in prior authorizations, transitions of care coordination and multi- step order transmittal management Problem solve and critically think as needed Effective time management of tasks and responsibilities Detail oriented with ability to effectively and efficiently multitask. Other duties as assigned. What you will need:
High school diploma or equivalent required; graduate of a pharmacy tech program preferred Licensed CPhT in state of Wisconsin PTCB Certified within 6 months One year experience in a pharmaceutical environment preferred. Good interpersonal and customer relations skills are needed to communicate effectively with various hospital personnel and families and to gather and exchange factual pharmaceutical information. Ability to work well under pressure due to time constraints and varying workloads. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail. Ability to operate a computer in order to generate lists, process medication orders, enter charges/credits, generate labels, retrieve patient information, and handle automated dispensing unit functions. Ability to walk and stand up to 80% of the work time. Ability to push, pull, and lift weights up to 30 pounds for up to 25% of the work time. Skywalk Pharmacy offers bedside delivery of medications for patients when they are discharged from the hospital ensuring patients have their medications before going home. Skywalk Pharmacy compounds medications to make tablets into liquids kids can take and for those patients with other unique needs. The pharmacy technicians and pharmacists have specialized training to prepare these types of medications. Many of our patients will need medication for the rest of their lives, and Skywalk Pharmacy can service them forever, even when they are adults. They provide health coaches who work with families, talk about the medications their child needs on a monthly basis, and set up a pick up or free home delivery. The Skywalk Pharmacy also sells over-the-counter items for kids. They work closely with Children's Wisconsin providers to get recommendations on what to offer patients.
