Position: Audio-Visual Technician, On Call
Role Overview
Participate in the load-in, operation, and load-out of Audio-Visual systems and equipment across all museum sites.

- FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
- Reports To: AV Services Production Manager
- Compensation: $46.80/hour
- Work Schedule: Variable; includes business hours, evenings, holidays, and weekends. Schedules are set 3-6 weeks in advance.

Key Responsibilities
- Operate audiovisual equipment for various activities including lectures, conferences, performances, parties, educational programming, and corporate events.
- Record events, presentations, and lectures as assigned.
- Operate and troubleshoot video switching systems (e.g., Barco, BlackMagic) using multiple screens/projectors.
- Ensure safe installation of AV equipment under supervision.
- Perform tear-downs and load outs of AV equipment.
Qualifications
- CTS certification, AV degree, or equivalent experience in projection, video switching, live sound, and computing.
- 3-5 years’ experience in theatre, event, or AV work.
- Knowledge of digital and analogue AV systems and signal processing.
- Strong customer service skills and flexibility.
- Ability to multitask with limited supervision.
- Dependability and ability to commit to shifts.
- Physical capability to handle heavy lifting (50+ pounds) and work at heights.
- Understanding of signal flow and troubleshooting skills for AV systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft and Apple software, PowerPoint, Keynote, Zoom, streaming services.
- OSHA certification.
- Experience with video switching/engineering systems, audio and lighting consoles, and operation of AV equipment.
- Knowledge of safe rigging practices and electrical wiring.
- Comfort working on ladders, scaffolding, and operating lifts.
- Discretion and confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Zoom, Asana, Slack, and internet research.
Working Conditions
Primarily indoor, climate-controlled environments with some outdoor work on varied terrains.
Physical Activities
- Stationary work approximately 25%; 75% moving around.
- Communication skills in English.
- Ability to interpret printed materials and operate office equipment.
- Transport up to 50 pounds of equipment.
- Work safely at heights using ladders, scaffolding, and lifts.
