Audio Visual Design Engineer - DFW Area
We are looking for an Audio Visual Design Engineer for one of the TOP commercial audiovisual integrators in the DFW area. This role involves designing and developing complex AV solutions, collaborating with clients and estimators to assess project needs, and creating detailed drawing packages. The Audio Visual Design Engineer will also finalize equipment lists, prepare submittal documentation, support implementation teams, oversee system commissioning and training, and participate in project meetings to ensure seamless execution.

Audio Visual Design Engineer - DFW Area
We are looking for an Audio Visual Design Engineer for one of the TOP commercial audiovisual integrators in the DFW area. This role involves designing and developing complex AV solutions, collaborating with clients and estimators to assess project needs, and creating detailed drawing packages. The Audio Visual Design Engineer will also finalize equipment lists, prepare submittal documentation, support implementation teams, oversee system commissioning and training, and participate in project meetings to ensure seamless execution.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct discovery meetings and needs analysis with clients.
- Specify and design AV solutions from concept to completion.
- Attend bid meetings, walkthroughs, and site surveys.
- Research equipment and emerging technologies.
- Develop equipment lists, labor cost estimates, and scope of work.
- Collaborate with subcontractors and vendors for pricing.
- Create and maintain AV drawings using CAD software.
- Draft signal flow diagrams and detailed AV system layouts.
- Provide construction administration support and site visits.
- Configure and commission AV devices.
- Ensure compliance with industry best practices and company standards.
- Mentor and train junior team members.
Requirements
Experience & Skills:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial AV design, preferably with a systems integrator.
- Professional Certification - AVIXA CTS-D required.
- Bachelor's degree in Electronic Technologies, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience (military training a plus).
- Strong knowledge of designing AV systems for meeting rooms, boardrooms, training rooms, town halls, digital signage, and unified collaboration systems.
- Experience with Crestron, AMX, Extron, QSC Q-SYS, Shure, Cisco, Poly, Logitech, Yealink, and other industry-leading products (certifications preferred).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD LT and ability to read construction drawings.
- Understanding of IT infrastructure and IP-based AV systems (Dante, AES67, Multicast, Unicast).
- Familiarity with web-based conferencing platforms (MS Teams, Zoom, WebEx, Skype for Business).
- Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Ability to lift up to 10 pounds.
