Job Overview
Qualcomm's in-house Game Studio is seeking an experienced 3D environment artist to create cutting-edge graphic environments for AR, VR, PC, and 3D mobile demos. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of architecture, construction techniques, materials, and natural features. Expertise in creating 3D models, ZBrush sculpts, PBR textures, and materials for both geometric and organic environments is essential. A solid understanding of materials, LODs, draw calls, occlusion, and optimization techniques is required.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5-8 years of experience modeling and texturing environments in Maya, 3DS Max, or Blender for shipped mobile, VR, PC, or console games.
- Strong understanding of architecture and construction techniques/materials for realistic assets.
- Knowledge of 3D mechanical design and assemblies.
- Understanding of static and dynamic real-time lighting for games.
- Experience creating 3D models for props, vehicles, foliage, and using Substance & Photoshop for PBR textures.
- Ability to create performance-optimized art content suitable for modern game hardware, mobile, or VR.
- Proficiency with UE5 or Unity, including debugging and optimization of occlusion, draw calls, LODs, and materials.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across disciplines.
- Demo materials, including sample levels or models and textures, are required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building environments in Unity or Unreal Engine 5.
- Knowledge of environment modeling and UV material application in Maya, 3DS Max, or Blender.
- Experience with ZBrush.
- Experience creating photo-realistic PBR materials with Substance or Quixel.
- Previous work on AAA games as an environment artist.
- Understanding of VR and AR mobile limitations and requirements.
- Basic knowledge of AI tools for concept art and 2D art creation.
- Experience with heightmaps and large landscape creation.
- Basic level design knowledge.
Educational Qualifications
Preferred: BFA or BA in art, design, graphics, or equivalent on-the-job experience.
Additional Requirements: A degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related fields with relevant work experience, or equivalent programming experience in languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.
