JOB DESCRIPTION:
Performs multimedia operations and produces work involving the design, preparation, and production of multimedia content for the Secretary of State’s office.
Uses photo, audio, and video equipment in conjunction with design tools and software to create visual content for the agency.
Designs and produces graphics and visual content as part of a comprehensive communications effort.
Duties include the conception, design creation, development, and production of media (such as photography, video, audio, graphics, and multimedia).
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
- Designs, edits, and integrates digital content, graphics, animation, photography, illustrations, and other multimedia visualization and imaging products.
- Produces, and edits video projects, including planning, scripting, capturing footage, and designing graphics and interactive media materials.
- Edits and reviews multimedia files for production.
- Performs photography work, including color correction and image editing.
- Evaluates and selects photographs for publication and distribution.
- Coordinates printing needs to ensure quality and cost-effective printing.
- Coordinates with the communications director and social media manager to create visual content suitable for the agency’s social media channels.
- Creates basic information graphics and illustrations.
- Supports agency staff in the creation of short informational videos for internal and external use.
- Designs materials such as signage, posters, and brochures.
- In conjunction with the communications director, creates and updates branding guides for the agency.
- Maintains an archive of electronic production files, artwork, and images.
- Performs related work as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in graphic design, video production, and photography.
Familiarity with software for photo editing, video production, and graphic design.
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in graphic design, communications, film, fine art, or a related field is generally preferred. Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to create motion graphic video.
Familiarity with Texas State Government and agencies.
