About this position
Position: The Department of Communication at Florida Southern College seeks applications for an Instructor of Communication to begin fall 2025. Salary is competitive with peer institutions and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities: The ideal candidate will have experience in professional practice and classroom teaching. The teaching load per semester is comprised of three, four-hour courses. Primary teaching assignments may include Fundamentals of Speech, Persuasion, Intercultural Communication, as well as other general courses in our majors, including advertising/public relations, broadcast, print and online media, and interpersonal and organizational communication.
About the Department: The Communication Department at Florida Southern College offers the B.A. and B.S. degrees in advertising/public relations; sports communication and marketing; political communication; broadcast, print, and online media; and interpersonal/organizational communication. Serving approximately 175 students, the department offers vibrant curricular and co-curricular opportunities, excellent internship experiences, and is located between major media markets in Tampa and Orlando.

Qualifications: Qualified candidates will have a Ph.D. or terminal degree in the field of Communication; candidates who are ABD will be considered. The successful candidate will be a dynamic and collaborative colleague who demonstrates a commitment to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching and skill in methods of engaged learning within a changing media landscape. The successful candidate also will be able to use instructional technology effectively. In addition, FSC faculty members participate in activities that enrich the intellectual life of the College and support its teaching and learning community.
