Tessera Summer Intern Program: Tessera Therapeutics' 10- to 12-week summer internship offers hands-on experience at a pioneering Gene Writing™company. Interns work alongside experts, gaining practical skills and industry insight in a dynamic biotech environment. This internship is designed for students enrolled in a PhD program.
Duration: June 2nd - August 8th (10 week program) or August 22nd(12 week program) || Monday - Friday, 35-40 hrs/week
- Hands-on Experience: Interns participants will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on innovative projects at the forefront of biotechnology.
- Coffee Chats with Leadership: Regular informal sessions will be arranged where students can engage in candid conversations with Tessera Therapeutics' leadership team. These sessions offer a unique opportunity to gain insights into leadership styles, career paths, and industry trends.
- Career Development Workshops: Throughout the program, participants will have access to a series of workshops focused on enhancing key professional skills such as communication, drafting a resume and interviewing.
- Student Outings and Activities: To foster a sense of camaraderie and community among participants, Tessera Therapeutics will organize various outings and activities.
- Student Presentation: Opportunity to present accomplishments at the end of the Internship program to the entire organization.

- Work both independently and collaboratively to design novel proteins using rational and data-driven approaches.
- Review the latest scientific literature in protein modeling and design methods, especially those using biomolecular modeling, machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL).
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to devise, train, interpet and apply models using public and proprietary sequence, structure, and function data.
- Present scientific findings to project teams.
- Adhering to all laboratory safety requirements and procedures
- PhD student working towards a degree in a STEM discipline with coursework in biophysics, biochemistry, mathematics, and computer science.
- Fluency in one or more programming languages, especially Python.
- Familiarity with structure-function relationships of proteins (eg antibodies, enzymes) or nucleic acids.
- Attention to detail, and ability to multi-task and troubleshoot.
- Quick and engaged learner, independent thinker.
- Enthusiasm and excitement for the pursuit of cutting-edge science.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic PhD intern to join our computational Protein and RNA Engineering group at Tessera Therapeutics. This position will offer an exciting opportunity to design novel proteins with improved functions and unravel their mechanism of action. Reporting to a principal scientist, you will gain experience using a variety of computational methods, including molecular modeling, machine learning and AI. We are searching for a driven, enthusiastic, and self-motivated individual who is comfortable multitasking and working independently on various aspects of the platform.
