A variety of soft skills and experience may be required for the following role Please ensure you check the overview below carefully.Status: Full-timeOpening: Summer/Fall 2024, ImmediateRepresentative Responsibilities for a Design Manager There are various open positions at different levels. Below are representative duties for a mid-level Design Manager. For duties of other levels and specialties, we can provide the specifics in response to a Candidate’s email.Overseeing the review and approval of technical documents (DRT process)Lending expertise to manage comment resolutionFacilitating meetings and being the technical liaison between the Developers/Design-Builders and ADP Subject Matter Expert teamsWorking with the Airport Development Project Manager in defining, reviewing and/or approving design requirements, responsibilities, and program consistencyProviding guidance to the Airport Development Project Manager should design requirements contained in the project documents not be clearly definedProviding technical review of changes to scope of work for each projectEstablishing submittal approval procedures and ensuring uniformity of review approachAuditing project team comments and designer responsesMonitoring compliance with architectural and engineering guidelines for the Airport Development projects ensuring consistency and quality in designMonitoring permitting information and the permitting process required by the design teamSupporting the Airport Development Project Manager to ensure design reviews are completed on time and within budgetDeveloping and maintaining the Airport Development project scope tracker to verify that all scope elements are accounted for and have been or will be assigned to a projectProviding guidance related to the functional requirements contained in the technical specifications or other project documents supplied by LAWAMonitoring BIM productions of all designers and contractors according to LAWA BIM Standards, the BIM Execution Plan, and needs of the Airport Development projectsActing as technical liaison for the design review processes and comment resolution in coordination with the project manager and the Design Review Team (DRT)Providing technical support and coordination between the Airport Development project team and other ADP project teams for program consistency across all disciplinesProviding technical support for adjacent LAWA projects as required to ensure accurate interfaceProviding technical coordination for project consistency across all disciplinesPreparing and reviewing briefings, meeting agendas, and supporting materials for various meetings including Board presentations, Steering Committee meetings, Stakeholder outreach, and other TDIP meetingsRequired Qualifications
US Employment Authorization without needing sponsorshipBachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, environmental planning, business, accounting, or related fieldExcellent written and oral communication skillsProven experience in working on complex, multi-phase, multi-million-dollar design and construction projectsHave a clear understanding of project cost, schedule, design, documentation, and quality control principlesAble to multi-task and work in a fast-paced work environmentA valid Driver’s License and compliance with PACIFIC’s Vehicle PolicyProficiency with common Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat (PDF files)Pre-employment drug test; also subject to drug and alcohol testing during the course of employment in accordance with PACIFIC’s Drug, Alcohol, and Illegal Items Policy3+ References from Clients (Public Agency Representatives)Minimum years of design management experience (varies based on the level)Preferred Qualifications
