Adventist Healthcare seeks to hire an experienced Insurance Authorization Coordinator for our Home Care Division who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.
As an Insurance Authorization Coordinator you will:
• Receives and accurately enters patients' insurance information from Intake and Community Liaisons into the appropriate documentation system
• Verifies referred patients' insurance benefits, obtains initial insurance authorization and precertification to provide post-acute services for Medicare, Medicaid and all other third-party payers.
• Obtains third Party authorizations for visits & medical supplies for home health visiting staff/patients with appropriate documentation in EMR
• Track visits used by home health patients to ensure that they are within authorization limits of payors
• Serves as a consultant to patients and family members on updating their insurance information with employers, Social Security and CMS
• Provides insurance verification documentation as needed for denials as well as any other billing and collection to support Reimbursement Specialists
• Collaborates with all members of the PAC Center to facilitate patients' smooth transition to the post-acute setting
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications include:
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; 2-year degree/Associates preferred
• 3 years' experience in acute rehabilitation, home health, healthcare billing, managed care/HMO/Payer, case management, utilization management or related fields required.
• 2-4 years medical office/healthcare environment and/or Medical benefit coordination experience preferred
• Ability to proficiently navigate the insurance and managed care environment
• Ability to speak clearly and adjust telephone manner while communicating with all internal and external agency customers
• Ability to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Working knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Ability to demonstrate excellent organizational skills and multitasking
• Ability to demonstrate excellent customer service and positive interactions with patients and clinical staff
• Ability to speak clearly and adjust telephone manner while communicating with all internal and external agency customers
• Ability to create a positive and engaged work environment
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
• Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
Pay Range:
$23.25 - $32.55
If the salary range is listed as $0 or if the position is Per Diem (with a fixed rate), salary discussions will take place during the screening process.
Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), this position is classified as:
