Starting salary for this position is: $40.83 - $86.87 per hour based on workload category.
This is an adjunct (part-time) position. Compensation will be pro-rated according to workload. Spokane Colleges reserves the right to cancel this recruitment without notice. About Us
Spokane Falls Community College seeks qualified candidates for a Music Adjunct Instructor position at its Pullman Center on the Washington State University Campus. This is a hybrid role, combining in-person and online teaching.
The Music & Recording Arts Department at SFCC is known for its active faculty of professional musicians and regional excellence. It offers numerous performance and music appreciation opportunities, fostering a vibrant musical environment.
We seek applicants with professionalism, a commitment to student success, diversity, and global awareness. The ability to motivate and educate students engagingly is essential. Faculty should be content experts, knowledgeable in best practices, innovative teaching strategies, and instructional technologies supporting diverse learning environments.
We are currently hiring for a hybrid (blended) section of MUSC&105: Music Appreciation, scheduled for Fall Quarter 2025. This 5-credit Humanities course meets on-ground Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 11:00 a.m., with asynchronous online instruction on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Each class session lasts 50 minutes.
Additional teaching opportunities in History of Jazz and/or History of Popular Music may be available in Winter and/or Spring Quarters 2026 after the Fall appointment.
Compensation for this course was approximately $5,574.32 before taxes in 2024-25 and is expected to be slightly higher in 2025-26.
Spokane Falls Community College serves 6,000 students with transfer and technical programs across Eastern Washington.

- Prepare and instruct a college-level Music Appreciation course in a hybrid format, with potential to teach additional courses like History of Jazz and History of Popular Music in subsequent quarters.
- Communicate expectations, establish clear grading criteria, develop syllabi, handouts, multimedia resources, and evaluate student progress with timely feedback. Incorporate active listening, critical thinking, and cultural discussions to support learning outcomes.
