Job Description:
The School of Art in the College of Art and Design at Louisiana State University invites applications for multiple full-time non-tenure track positions as Assistant Professor of Practice in the areas of Painting & Drawing, Digital Art, Foundations and BA Liberal Arts programs to commence in Fall 2024.A successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of studio art professional practice, and have teaching experience at the university level, either during or after their MFA. Teaching assignments include studios, lecture courses, and seminars. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a studio practice studio area meetings/service and some student advising and mentoring.Louisiana State University:The School of Art has 500+ students and is one of 4 units in the College of Art and Design, including Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Interior Design. The School of Art combines the best of both worlds: the resources and faculty of a large liberal arts institution with the personal attention that comes with a close-knit community. among the largest and most comprehensive in the region.The School of Art offers a Bachelor of Arts in Art and Design, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Master of Arts in Art History, and Master of Fine Arts programs. BFA Studio Art concentrations include digital art, graphic design, and studio arts. .Job ResponsibilitiesTEACHING (65%): This position will teach undergraduate general education courses and courses for majors at the undergraduate and graduate level in Studio Art. Familiarity with contemporary art and design discourse, along with the potential for exceptional research, excellence in teaching, and active creative practice are necessary. Supervision of students engaged in Independent Creative Practice or Fieldwork/Internship or on site Visits to artist studios, galleries, museums, etc..SERVICE (35%): Provide services to the School, College, and University, and help in program development. Participate in student advising and mentoring.Minimum QualificationsMFA in Studio Art. Teaching expereince at the university level.Additional Job Description:
