The minimum qualifications and skill requirements for this position include:
- Master's degree - Music Education
- Knowledge of general music education subject matter
- Competent Piano accompaniment skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to understand and work with students from varied cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
- Willingness to create active partnerships with students in the teaching/learning process.
- Appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential job functions and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Teaching first and second year music education courses
- Teaching Humanities music courses
- Work collaboratively with the faculty in the Performing and Visual Arts department
- Availability to teach assigned courses during the academic workday.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The specific duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Teaching Music Theory courses (Levels I - IV)
- Teaching Music Sight-singing courses (first and second year)
- Teaching Class Piano courses (first and second year)
- Teaching Music Appreciation Courses
- Teaching applied instrument lessons
