The English and Communication Department at UC Blue Ash invites applicants for our Communication Adjunct faculty general pool of candidates from which part-time faculty will be selected for the upcoming term (as needed).
The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College is one of the largest regional colleges in Ohio. The college is in Blue Ash, Ohio fifteen miles north of the uptown campus, on 135 acres in a park-like setting. We offer primarily associate degrees in career and transition programs, as well as general education courses and technical baccalaureate degrees to approximately 5,100 students. We value excellent teaching and personalized student support to help students achieve their goals, whether the goal is to enter a career or to continue education.
Job Overview
On a part-time, limited basis, the Adjunct Faculty member’s primary academic functions include teaching first and second year communication courses. This may include creating curricula or teaching from model curricula provided by the department.
Part-time faculty must have experience and training to provide course instruction in public speaking and/or business communication.
Adjunct faculty members will be expected to (1) use our course management system – Canvas; (2) hold regular office hours to meet with students and reply to student communications in a timely manner; (3) participate in at least one professional development workshop per year; (4) participate in program assessment.
Part-time faculty should be available to teach in-person. Classes may be offered day or evening. This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.
Essential Functions
- On a part-time basis, teach assigned undergraduate courses.
- Using best practices, continually evaluate student coursework.
- Review and respond in a timely manner to all University-related and student communications.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Required Education
Required Experience
At least one (1) year of teaching experience in a college setting.
Additional Qualifications Considered
- Experience teaching public speaking, interpersonal communication, and/or business communication.
- Ph.D. or ABD in communication
