The Housing Authority of the City of Austin (HACA) is looking for a Communications & Marketing Specialist to join our high-performing organization. This role requires a creative and organized communications leader to support our marketing and communications initiatives. Reporting to the Director of Communications & Marketing, this position will help advance HACA's mission, promote our culture and values, and strengthen the HACA brand. HACA has been a leader in affordable housing in the City of Austin for more than 85 years. In partnership with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, local government entities, and numerous non-profit agencies, HACA provides access to safe, stable housing to over 20,000 individuals.
What you will do in this position:
Strategic Messaging & Content Creation
Develop compelling messaging and content to reach target audiences effectively.
Marketing & Collateral Design
Design marketing materials and promotional assets to support HACA's initiatives.
Digital Media & Visual Storytelling
Shoot and edit digital photos and video content for social media, the website, and marketing campaigns.
Community Engagement & Outreach
Inform the community about HACA's programs, services, and events through various communication channels.
Performance Analysis
Track, analyze, and optimize marketing efforts based on feedback and results.
Public Relations
Enhance HACA's brand visibility
Digital Communication
Strengthen communication with residents
Brand Refresh
Update and refining HACA's image
Social Media Growth
Expand our online presence
More about this position:
Qualified candidates must possess:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Digital Media, Graphic Design, or a related field
One year of post-graduation job experience OR two years of internship experience in advertising, communications, journalism, marketing, or public relations
Excellent design skills with quick turnaround capability (design test required)
Strong project management skills to manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities
Technical Proficiency:
Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Spark)
Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Bonus points for experience with Adobe Premiere and After Effects
Preferred candidates will also possess the following skills and abilities:
Three years of post-graduation job experience in advertising, communications, journalism, marketing, or public relations
Proven experience executing comprehensive strategic communications campaigns
Established media relations network
Technical & Digital Marketing Skills:
Social media management tools (Hootsuite or similar)
Website management (WordPress, HTML, and web design)
Strong understanding of SEO and search engine optimization
Spanish language proficiency
