Responsibility: The Sales and Marketing Director position is responsible for planning and implementing sales, marketing and product development programs, both short and long range, targeted toward existing and new markets. The key area of product focus is our proprietary group health insurance program. Our sales responsibilities are two-fold as we have an exclusive list of member services, with a focus on insurance programs as well as sales of vendor programs for our association clients.
Job Duties: Utilize extensive knowledge of group health insurance programs to drive significant sales growth among existing and future association member prospects. Develops and implements strategic marketing plans and sales plans and forecasts to achieve company and client objectives for products and services and vendor programs to include convention booths, sponsorship, advertising sales, etc. Stay current on changes in insurance laws affecting company programs and member/employer responsibilities. Develop processes to thoroughly implement any changes necessary for Elevanta and member companies. Manage sales of our unique self-funded employee benefits insurance program in which company serves as broker, program manager and back-office benefits administrator. Prepare proposals for new and renewal business opportunities and present both virtually and in-person. Conduct quarterly relationship and performance meetings with large accounts reviewing their performance and making suggestions for upcoming renewal changes. Meetings will be in-person and virtual. Plans and develops member services advertising and promotion activities including print, online, electronic media, and direct mail. Monitors competitor products, sales and marketing activities. Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners in employee benefits, property & casualty insurance, captive insurance and association management industries. Guides preparation of marketing activity reports and presents to executive management. Establishes and maintains a consistent Elevanta image throughout all product lines, promotional materials, and events. Directs staffing, training, and performance evaluations to develop and control sales and marketing programs. Directs market channel development activity and coordinates sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals. Represents company at trade association meetings to promote products and services With association leadership, develop annual sponsorship and advertising packages for each association client to include convention booth opportunities (when available), virtual sponsorships, associate memberships, print and digital advertising, and other ideas to generate non-dues revenue for association clients. Understand each association client base and develop marketing and sales pitch to effectively communicate the value of association vendor programs to prospects. Meets with key clients to maintain relationships and negotiate and close deals - for both member services and vendor sales programs. Develops new business opportunities with new markets and industries - for both member services and vendor sales programs. Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed growth.. Reviews and analyzes sales performances against programs, quotes and plans to determine effectiveness. Directs product research and development for new association programs and services.
Required education, experience and skills: Four year degree in business, marketing, sales or related field. Minimum of 10 years experience in sales in insurance industry, group health program knowledge a requirement Relevant experience in exhibitor booth, sponsorships, advertising, etc. sales Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Position requires a professional demeaner and ability to speak confidently with members, business partners and our client Boards.
