PACO Group, Inc. (PACO) is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Technical Writer to support critical infrastructure projects with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). As a Technical Writer, you will be responsible for creating, editing, and maintaining technical documents that ensure clear communication of project requirements, procedures, and updates. This position provides an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of WMATA’s infrastructure initiatives by delivering high-quality documentation that supports project teams and stakeholders.
Scope of Work
The Technical Writer will play a key role in the success of WMATA’s State of Good Repair (SOGR) initiatives by developing and refining technical documentation for the Track and Structures (TRST) Department. This role is integral to ensuring that project manuals, guidelines, and reports are clear, consistent, and meticulously accurate. The Technical Writer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate complex technical information into user-friendly documents, supporting the delivery of critical infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, edit, and format technical documents, including operational procedures, project manuals, and detailed reports, ensuring clarity and accessibility for diverse audiences.
- Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and project stakeholders to gather and interpret technical information, transforming it into concise and actionable documentation.
- Ensure all documentation adheres to WMATA’s stringent standards for formatting, content, and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain a centralized, organized library of technical documentation for easy retrieval and future reference, ensuring alignment with project milestones and objectives.
- Actively identify opportunities to improve documentation processes, incorporating best practices for technical communication and data presentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Communications, Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience creating technical documentation for engineering, infrastructure, or transportation projects.
- Advanced proficiency in documentation tools, including Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and other document creation software.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to present complex information in an understandable and engaging format.
- Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
