Senior CAD Designer
The Senior CAD Designer position involves coordinating with engineers, the CAD department, and manufacturing teams to ensure stakeholder satisfaction with projects. This role reviews project performance and looks for potential improvements. The Senior CAD Designer assesses potential new uses for CAD within the organization, keeps the department’s software, techniques, and tools up to date, assists in establishing departmental mechanical design standards, and ensures design for manufacturability. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining technical drawings, visual representations of products, assembly instructions, and ensuring adherence to common practices within the CAD team.
Job Duties:
Project Coordination
Collaborate with engineers, CAD team members, and manufacturing personnel to ensure designs meet functional and production requirements.
Facilitate effective communication across departments to ensure alignment and stakeholder satisfaction.
Design Development
Create and maintain detailed technical drawings, 3D models, and product visualizations using industry-standard CAD software.
Develop and update assembly instructions and documentation to support manufacturing and quality assurance processes.
Performance Review & Improvement
Monitor and assess ongoing project performance to identify design bottlenecks or inefficiencies.
Recommend and implement improvements to optimize CAD workflows and output quality.
Standards & Compliance
Establish, document, and enforce mechanical design standards and best practices across the department.
Ensure that all designs meet manufacturability standards and adhere to company guidelines and industry norms.
Quality Control
Serve as a technical resource and mentor to junior CAD staff, promoting consistency and continuous improvement.
Review CAD outputs for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with design and documentation standards.
Team Guidance & Quality Control

Qualifications:
Minimum
Education & Experience:
2-Year Technical Degree in Mechanical Drafting, Design, or Engineering
Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical or industrial design
Design experience with sheet metal and fabrication
Design experience with structural steel
Design experience with various fastening methods such as welding, hardware, rivets, etc
SolidWorks/Inventor and AutoCAD experience
Other Requirements:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel for creating charts and performing calculations
Performs effectively in ambiguous situations
Strong organizational skills and the ability to analyze and solve problems
Responsible, personable, with a strong work ethic and a collaborative approach
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to work within an environment with various interruptions during the day for factory support
Physical Requirements:
Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
