Akkodis is currently partnering with a growing company that is looking for a remote technical writer.
Skills Needed:
- 7-8+ years of experience in technical writing or business analysis.
- Proven experience with DR planning and documentation is a must.
- Strong familiarity with cybersecurity, data center operations, or infrastructure is a major plus.
- Experience working with Microsoft tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.).
- Industry experience in healthcare, government, or retail is highly preferred.
- Ability to create and modify Visio diagrams and swimlane charts for process mapping (preferred but not mandatory).
- Strong understanding of IT applications, reporting cadences, and maintenance cycles with an ability to document intricate system requirements.
Self-Starter: Must take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
Relationship Builder: Needs to develop strong working relationships with IT staff to extract undocumented knowledge.
Proactive & Assertive: Must be comfortable asking the right questions and pushing technical teams for critical information.
Adaptability & Creativity: Able to think outside the box to develop innovative ways to gather and document key IT knowledge.
Job Description: The technical writer will be responsible for:
- Partner with the IT Disaster Recovery lead to develop, structure, and document a DR plan that is well-received across the organization.
- Collaborate with the BSA and technical teams to extract, document, and structure knowledge into a formalized disaster recovery framework.
- Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise, and structured documentation for non-technical stakeholders.
- Develop process flow diagrams, procedural documentation, and visual representations using Visio (or similar tools).
- Define and maintain documentation governance processes to ensure continuous improvement and compliance.
- Maintain the DR plan through periodic updates, reflecting new technologies, policies, and business continuity strategies.
- Work with cross-functional teams, including infrastructure, cybersecurity, and data center teams, to gather key system requirements for maintaining business continuity.
- Ensure documentation meets regulatory and industry-specific compliance requirements.
