Description
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a RESEARCH LIBRARY ASSOCIATE to work closely with faculty and staff to provide specialized research assistance and expert search support. To maintain, create and update online library subject and course guides. To serve on committees to represent the library, as appropriate, and participates in staff development opportunities.
This position is designed specifically to support high quality systematic review searching for health science researchers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. This individual will conduct expert searches for clinicians, researchers, and faculty conducting systematic, scoping, rapid, and other expert reviews including grant applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides expert searching for systematic reviews, scoping reviews, other literature reviews, and grant applications in the Health Sciences.
- Answer queries related to systematic review searching and use of tools such as Covidence and EndNote.
- Provide peer review of systematic review searches conducted by colleagues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
Master's degree in Library Sciences from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited institution or equivalent (5) or more years of relevant professional experience in a health or life sciences library or hospital library Significant experience in expert searching for systematic reviews, practice guidelines, and other research projects preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, Excellent project management and organizational skills, Strong public service orientation, Evidence of initiative and flexibility, Ability to manage projects and work independently.
Preferred eight (8) years' professional experience in a health or life sciences library or a teaching hospital library. Experience in expert searching for systematic reviews and other research projects demonstrated through co-authorship or acknowledgements in published papers Experience with systematic review tools including Covidence and EndNote.
