Job Description:
As a UX Designer, you’ll deliver designs and map visualizations on geospatial imagery. The role will be on the team responsible for geospatial imagery. Designers on this team work on merging map visualizations and design patterns with geospatial imagery to help users see and contextualize the real world. You’ll work closely with a UX lead to propose and finalize UI designs across several imagery use cases. You’ll partner with Product, Engineering, and other teams to identify and resolve challenges that arise, and deliver work on time against product deadlines and milestones. You’ll also deliver other critical aspects of this design work, including but not limited to explorations, refinement, and expansion of new or existing design patterns to achieve a holistic and user-centered product. Ideally you will have strong 3D, visual, and motion design skills. Experience working in game engines such as Unreal, and Unity is a plus. The ideal candidate does well working in highly ambiguous spaces, with multiple cross functional stakeholders, and embraces change.
Responsibilities:
- Evolve the design of UI elements across several related imagery features
- Evaluate use cases, conduct audits, and deliver design solutions with global audiences, data quality, and overall app in mind
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand use cases and provide streamlined and elegant solutions
- Communicate the design rationale behind the solution at various stages of the process including but not limited to wireframes, prototypes, or motion studies
Required Qualifications:
- BA or BS in Design (including graphic design, human-computer interaction, architecture, or a related field – in lieu of a degree, 4 years of relevant work experience)
- Experience working with 3D environments, and 3D game engines (Unity, Unreal, Blender, After Effects)
- Fluent with design tools – specifically Figma
- Elementary understanding of HTML/CSS or other technical UI framework
- Tactical hands-on design capabilities
- Strong understanding of design theory, principles of typography, layout, and information hierarchy
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
The target hiring compensation range for this role is $53.51 to $59.46 an hour. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
