JMU Marketing and Branding is searching for a student photo and video production assistant for the 2025 - 2026 academic year. This paid internship offers an exciting opportunity for a student to develop photography skills in a professional marketing environment. The position requires a commitment of 10 hours per week during the Fall and Spring semesters. Application instructions are provided at the bottom of this description.

Position Description

Coordinate, produce, and deliver video and photography content that aligns with the JMU Brand, supports university goals, and aims to engage constituents more deeply with the university.

Position Responsibilities

• Complete, sign, and submit timesheets accurately each pay period; failure to do so may result in termination after two consecutive missed periods.
• Develop multimedia content (primarily video, secondarily photo) for digital, broadcast, social media, and other channels supporting university objectives.
• Record and edit video projects as assigned.
• Provide onsite photo, audio, and video support for priority initiatives.
• Capture photographs as assigned.
• Respond promptly and professionally to photo/video requests and assignments.
• Assist the Content Marketing team, Photographers, Video Producers, and Creative Media Manager on various projects.
• Complete post-production editing efficiently and in a timely manner.
• Apply relevant keywords, tags, titles, and descriptions to multimedia content.

Candidate Expectations

• Some experience with mirrorless or DSLR cameras in photography and videography.
• A portfolio showcasing photography or video work, which can be a website, blog, PDF, social media page, or similar format.
