The Senior Interior Designer / Space planner will develop designs, specifications, and prepare construction documents for interior scopes of work of government, military, and commercial aviation facilities. This position serves in a leadership role and drives interior design programming, design, and furniture strategies. The Interior Designer / Space Planner works directly with the client, manages and mentors junior staff, and assists with integrating interior design concepts with architectural and engineering systems.
* Lead designer for interior design of government, military, and commercial aviation projects.
* Lead a team of junior interior design staff in the development and execution of projects.
* Work within a project team of architects and engineers, meeting with clients to assess needs and develop space programs for projects.
* Assist with the marketing efforts in pursuing architectural / interior design work.
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* Bachelor Degree in interior design, interior architecture, or related degree from an accredited program.
* Minimum 8 years of related interior design, interior architecture experience
* Excellent written & verbal communication skills.
* Demonstrated knowledge of architectural principles and theory associated with project design and construction document production
* Demonstrated knowledge of Interior Design specifications, calculations, industry standards as well as visual, written and oral skills
* A National Council for Interior Design Qualifications (NCIDQ Certification) is required.
* Strong programming, design, space planning, construction documentation and leadership skills.
* Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
* Current understanding and application of commercial furniture systems.
* Experience in Revit required.
* Experience in 3-D visualization software such as Enscape and/or Lumin is preferred.
* Experience with government and military design standards is preferred.
