Staff / Senior Civil Designer
to join our team and lead diverse and impactful projects. Job Description: As a
Staff/Senior Civil Designer , you will be responsible for leading various phases of planning, proposal preparation, site evaluations, analytical designs, report preparation, specifications, and preparation of construction documentation and environmental plans. This position offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects and collaborate with a diverse portfolio of clients. Key Responsibilities: Lead civil project designs, including site design, land development, roads, storm drainage systems, stormwater management facilities, water and sanitary sewer utility design, sediment and erosion control, traffic control, airports, and facility design. Oversee drawing production, including problem analysis, design layout, and calculations for non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexity. Lead a variety of design assignments using prescribed methods and standard techniques, ensuring proper drawing sequence, sizing of system components, and refining rough sketches. Conduct quality reviews of designs, sketches, and mark-ups for ongoing projects. Present reports, maps, drawings, tests, and other topographical and geologic data to plan design projects. Interpret design codes and specifications to meet design requirements. Lead design drawings, ensuring scope, budget, and schedule adherence. Review volume calculations for excavation, dredging, and upland site grading. Integrate schedules, budgets, and project criteria into civil designs to achieve financial goals. Organize and maintain project drawings, files, and revisions in a logical, well-structured manner. Train, mentor, and develop junior staff members. Participate in marketing and client development meetings. Responsible for ensuring quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) of civil design work. Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all company policies and standards. Requirements: Education: Bachelor's Degree in Drafting Technology or related field and 13 years of related experience (Required), or Associate Degree and 14 years of related experience (Required), or 15 years of progressive detailing and design experience. Field experience is desirable (Required). Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, and Excel. Advanced knowledge in design, calculations, and design systems. Advanced understanding of civil discipline theory and practices. Competency in the fundamental concepts of other disciplines as they relate to civil design. Ability to operate related discipline design software necessary for production tasks. Collaborative Skills: Proven ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary project team environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
