As a key member of the Marketing and Communications team, the Graphic Designer is responsible for the conceptualization and application of a variety of designed print and digital materials in support of SAIC’s mission. The Projects assigned include but are not limited to visual identity development, brand application, social media graphics, digital storytelling, email design, printed collateral, print and digital advertising campaigns, and fundraising support materials.
The Graphic Designer works closely on design/creative initiatives assigned and led by the Associate Director of Design. The Graphic Designer is an important partner for departments across the School and an essential part of the integrated marketing strategy.

Essential Functions
Responsible for the conception and development of a variety of designed projects in both print and digital media (SAIC’s biannual digital magazine, social media graphics, fundraising materials, student orientation collateral, graduation collateral, public programming visual identities, advertising campaigns, exhibition collateral, editorial layout, print production, and more) Development and implementation of merchandise for SAIC’s store Participate in virtual and in-person department meetings; contribute to overall marketing strategy Work with project managers on design projects and regularly update in project management software and team meetings In support of the Associate Director of Design, prepare required elements of an assigned project including visual concepts, photo editing, typesetting, layout and proofing; provide specifications to printers Work directly with external vendors on the preparation and delivery of design files; see through the project until final production. Assist with production of projects as assigned Manage, support, and mentor student designers each semester Follow all departmental procedures in transmitting, recording, and filing all materials related to design projects on related project servers and shared drives Remain current on design software, current design trends and developments, and marketing strategies
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
(an equivalent amount of training, education and experience will be considered)
Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field 3-5 years studio/in-house design experience Outstanding portfolio, with proven design experience in both print and digital formats Highly skilled in Adobe Creative Cloud Knowledge of print production, UX/web design, and vendor management; motion design skills are a plus

High level of detail and special attention to typography Ability to adapt and pivot to projects with tight turnaround times Strong collaborative nature with marketing and interdisciplinary teams Unafraid of asking questions and searching for improved solutions to design/project challenges Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with sensitivity to deadlines and budget Strong organizational skills, effective time management, and a willingness to step in and help when needed
