Job Description
The Technical Author for Owner Information Development (Direct) is responsible for developing Owner Information content and collaborating with client and internal teams within a fast-paced creative environment. The team produces high-quality textual, visual, and multimedia information products for various vehicle clients, primarily within the automotive industry.
As a Technical Author, your responsibilities include:
- Working closely with the team lead and client to communicate project status and delivery.
- Attending engineering meetings to obtain new or updated model year program features.
- Collaborating with team leads and local experts to understand and incorporate regional homologation/localization information according to country requirements.
- Participating in vehicle validations to ensure all validations are complete and timely.
- Utilizing authoring tools (XML/SGML), Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; understanding of relational databases is a plus.
- Improving communication, cooperation, and operational efficiency within the team.
- Supporting training of new staff and process improvement initiatives.
- Supporting content development, employee development, and project progression through milestones.
- Escalating open issues to the team lead as necessary.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 3+ years of experience working collaboratively with creative and client service teams in a fast-paced environment, preferably in the automotive industry.
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams to ensure well-planned solutions.
- Knowledge of structured authoring systems utilizing SGML/XML/DITA XML formats.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and thoroughness.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks efficiently.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and email platforms.
- Ability to plan, implement, and manage new activities.
- Organized, enthusiastic, and self-motivated.
- Ability to maintain schedules, raise issues proactively, and work with resources across multiple teams.
- Willingness to work onsite in a hybrid schedule.
