Summary
The Senior Piping Designer is responsible for the technical support, organization and execution of a variety of consulting engineering assignments with primary responsibilities in the field of piping engineering and design. Support may also be required in areas of mechanical design from time to time. The role will include participating as a member of dynamic project teams with a wide range of types of tasks.
Job Duties
* Establishing in-house standards and specifications for piping design; preparation and support of mechanical/piping design documents.* Field Investigation, man-hour estimating, awareness of ongoing regulatory requirements and industry standard best practices.* Able to work with TWD and Client design specifications; provide support on internal "Safe Design" checks on project packages.* Develop and maintain strong working relationship with internal project team members and external clients.* Management of project deliverable, schedule, budget, scope of work.* Assisting in the ongoing development of TWD internal systems to improve our quality and efficiency of delivering effective projects to clients.* Cost Estimating; awareness of ongoing regulatory requirements and industry standard best practices; able to work with TWD and Client design specifications.* Provide support on internal "Safe Design" checks on project packages; develop and maintain strong working relationship with internal project team members and external clients.* Management of project deliverable, schedule, budget, scope of work; assisting in the ongoing development of TWD internal systems to improve our quality and efficiency of delivering effective projects to clients.* Provide cross functional technical support in areas of piping design as may be required.* Familiarization of with various industrial design codes and standards.* Co-ordinate and undertake inspections of pressure equipment, and pipelines, and prepare field and follow up reports.* Undertake compliance activities, including data management, compliance tracking, form/schedules and report preparation for submission to regulatory authorities.* Prepare for review technical memos, investigation reports, drawings, procedures, laboratory testing programs, maps and engineering assessments.* Utilize in-house and licensed software for data management and report preparation.* Assist and perform 3D laser scanning of piping.

* Keep department manager informed of project status and challenges.* Developed plant layout and transposition drawings for proposals, FEED and engineering start up.* Develop Plant 3D/AutoPlant/Smartplant scale model and generate overall plot plans, isometrics, BOM and clash detection report from 3D model.* Front end Plot Plan development; conceptual layouts; Mapping & Terrain GIS integration with Survey data + Google Earth in Autodesk Infra-Works* Develop electronic pipe specification for Plant 3D* Project setup in Plant 3D* Host a 3D model walk through review to discuss and brainstorm design concept, constructability, HAZOP and 30%-60&-90% progress presentation with client. Have the ability to drive the review model, sell the layout and design, scribe the model review comments, make model shots of comments and create a tag report.* Create drawing shapefiles, FBX, and renderings.* Provide conceptual drawings, piping models and bill of materials for capital cost estimate (CCE)* Works autonomously without direct supervision.* Prepare demolition packages* Participate in squad checking Process P&IDs, TP list, LDT* Develop Piping construction work package (CWP)* Execute high level checking of isometrics, piping GA, support and details.* Construction Field Support* Respond to site eng1g. queries, issued Field work instructions, back charge notifications,* Participate in turnover activities including system completion, system walkdowns, inspections, ITP close out procedure, and punch list remediation* witness NDE test procedures including hydrotest, MT, UT, VT,* Investigating, advising and resolving design and field engineering problems through RFI.* Provide shop and field services regarding QA/QC activities, including but not limited to commissioning of new equipment, shutdown activities, field repairs, and shop fabrication surveillance.* Business Development Support* Support the Business Development Team (Client) to effectively manage and expand existing customer relationships

* Support the Client team to grow and develop a new customer base* Support Client activities including but not limited to proposal/bid preparation, attendance at conferences, seminars, etc. for the purpose of networking and promoting the company
Requirements - Job Specific
* 15+ years working experience.* Demonstrated understanding of engineering theories and principals* Advance skills with drafting tools such as AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Smartplant* Able to conduct detailed calculations to ensure that designs meet engineered standards and applicable codes* Experience with multiple phases of projects including preliminary and detailed design, tendering, construction supervision and commissioning is considered an asset.* Valid Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operator's License to facilitate independent travel to project sites and other office locations.* Excellent communication skills both oral and written with experience writing technical proposals.* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a range of personalities to establish effective working relationships with the required stakeholders.

* Technical Design or Mechanical Engineering background* Design experience in Refinery, Mining, Power plant, Chemical plants, O&G or oil sands environment, A-CAES* Experience in design, construction, fabrication, and commissioning* Experience in brownfield, greenfield, turnaround, revamp projects
