Music is central to the ministry of our church, the United Church of Christ, Congregational, located in Burlington, MA (otherwise known as UCC Burlington). Ours is an open and affirming congregation that has worshiped in the same historic building for 293 years. Whether it is singing hymns and praising God with the organ or our contemporary worship band, listening to anthems with the choir, or inviting talented members from the congregation and community to share their talents and “pray twice,” we embrace music as sacred to our worship experience.

We are seeking a Director of Music Ministries that not only has the mastery of playing the piano and organ but knows how to work with a devoted adult choir of all musical abilities to bring out the joy of singing each week.

We have a pipe/digital combination organ by Rodgers, which has 6 ranks and 36 stops. We have a modern media system that enables us to host and broadcast church services online, supporting remote worship and community connection. We also have a liturgical music library of over 650 selections with a wide range of songs and resources for every service and occasion.

We seek a Music Director who…

• Has liturgical knowledge and deems it a priority to work collaboratively with our Minister each week to have the music reflect the theme of each service.
• Enjoys merging classical and traditional hymns with more diverse musical selections, since “All Are Welcome” is the motto of our church, and we embrace music from every genre.
• Wants to build a more robust music ministry, in both new and current programs, such as with the established adult choir, the contemporary worship band, and our desire to rebuild the children’s choir.
• Enhances our services by inviting a variety of outside musicians to join us for special occasions and holidays.
• Most importantly, enjoys making each service so musically inspiring that everyone walking out will be moved and saying “My cup runneth over.”
