Position Title Library Assistant
FLSA Non-Exempt
FT/PT Part Time
Hours Per Week 9 with potential to increase up to 25 as needed
Work Schedule Monday 12 PM - 5 PM and Thursday 1 PM - 5 PM and Floater based on schedule needs
Position Salary Range $16.00/hour
General Responsibilities The Faculty Development & Learning Innovation team is seeking a Library Assistant to join our team at the HCC Library. This role involves providing exceptional customer service to all users, upholding, and administering library and college policies, and working under the direction of the Circulation and Access Services Manager. The goal is to deliver an optimal library experience for users. This is an on-campus/non-telework position.
Work Performed Circulation and User Services:
Assist users with checking-in, checking-out, and placing holds for library materials Manage fines and fees accurately Support the usage and reservation of study rooms Monitor noise levels and guide users to appropriate areas Information and Resource Management:
Utilize the library's catalog and databases to locate and retrieve books and resources Shelve and edge material Provide basic computer and technology assistance for printing, scanning, copying, saving, downloading, and uploading
Customer Service and Communication:
Answer user questions and direct them to Library and college campus resources/services Resolve issues as they arise and communicate effectively with other staff and supervisors Support colleagues and supervisors with various tasks
Operational Duties:
Perform opening and closing procedures Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Education Required High School or equivalent
Minimum Number of Years Experience Required 1

Work Experience: 1-year customer service Previous work experience in a library setting, preferred Key Skills and Abilities: Attention to Detail - Demonstrates exceptional attention to detail and ensures a high level of accuracy in all tasks Organizational Skills - Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively Teamwork -
Ability to work independently and as part of a team Customer Service - Outstanding customer service abilities Communication Skills -
Strong written and verbal communication skills Confidentiality -
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
Physical Requirements: Capable of standing for long periods of time Ability to lift, push up to 50 pounds, and bend as needed Strong fine motor skills for operating computer terminals
Operational Skills: Proficient in answering phone calls professionally and efficiently Availability:
Flexible availability to work during library hours, including weekends
