The Assistant Director of Advancement Communications is a key member of the Advancement Communications team, responsible for supporting the development and implementation of strategic communication plans that strengthen engagement with alumni, donors, parents, the campus community, and other key stakeholders. This role involves creating compelling content for a variety of channels, including print, digital, and social media, and working collaboratively across the Advancement Division and with campus partners to support and promote fundraising and alumni engagement initiatives while elevating the College’s brand and advancing its mission and vision. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Writing, Content Creation, and Strategy Collaborate with the Director of Advancement Communications to develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy for alumni and donor engagement. Collect and create compelling stories that highlight the impact of alumni connection, donor gifts, student success, and the transformative power of philanthropy. Write, edit, and produce high-quality content for a variety of platforms, including the monthly alumni e-newsletter, the biannual Stonehill Alumni Magazine (print and digital editions), the alumni social media channels, websites, and email campaigns. This position will work as the associate editor of the Stonehill Alumni Magazine , brainstorming and researching story ideas, working with freelance writers, coordinating photography, sharing design input, proofing, and managing media releases and the approval process. Assist with tracking and analyzing the effectiveness of communications campaigns. Ensure consistent and effective messaging that aligns with Stonehill College’s mission and values, while reinforcing the institution’s brand identity across all Advancement Communications materials. Fundraising and Campaign Support Assist with the promotion of fundraising initiatives, such as campaigns, annual giving, and special giving days. Support the development of fundraising materials, including case statements, social media posts, profiles and stories, and digital assets. Social Media & Digital Presence Assist with developing strategies to engage with alumni, donors, and other key constituencies on digital platforms and increase visibility and engagement with Stonehill’s Advancement efforts. Promote alumni/donor-focused events through email and social media channels. Collaborative Teamwork Work closely with colleagues in Advancement, Marketing, and Communications and Media Relations to coordinate communication and ensure messaging alignment. Collaborate with campus partners to gather stories, data, and other materials that support Advancement goals. Event Coverage and Support Attend alumni and donor events, such as Reunion and Homecoming, to cover for recaps and social media posts and to accompany freelance photographers. Support events within the Advancement Division as needed; on occasional weekends. Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field and 3-5 years of experience in communications, marketing, or advancement, preferably in higher education or nonprofit sectors. Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with an ability to craft clear, compelling, and persuasive messages for a variety of audiences and platforms. Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and handle multiple deadlines. Experience with email marketing software, social media management, and content management systems (CMS), knowledge of analytics tools, and the ability to interpret data to improve strategies.
