Associate Director of Marketing Category Management
leads a team responsible for Category Management activities across multiple highly complex categories within the Marketing and Retail Media Network (RMN) space, inclusive of Media, AdTech, Creative, Production, and other related categories. The team is responsible for development of category and sourcing strategies, sourcing execution, negotiations, contracting activities, and relationship management across the assigned categories. The purpose of this role is to optimize the total cost of ownership and increase the total value derived from our Marketing investments.

The Associate Director will have consistent exposure to Best Buy executives, strategic suppliers, and highly complex agreements. This role will cross-functionally partner with and influence leaders from all levels across the Best Buy Enterprise and will develop and maintain executive level relationships with the most strategic suppliers within the assigned categories. This role is expected to provide leadership in support of developing and maintaining a world-class Category Management capability across the entire Procurement function.
This role is hybrid, which means you will be required to work some days on-site at the Best Buy location listed on this posting and some days virtually from home or other non-Best Buy location. What you’ll do Develop and Manage Category Strategies: Create and oversee strategies for Marketing/Retail Media Network spend across multiple complex categories, coaching others, aligning with business goals, leveraging market insights, and driving value through stakeholder collaboration. Execute Sourcing Strategies: Independently develop and coach sourcing strategies, negotiate contracts per Best Buy policies, conduct financial analysis, and ensure accurate value reporting. Build Relationships: Collaborate proactively across teams, communicate effectively to influence decisions, and act as a trusted advisor to align procurement with business objectives. Lead and Coach Teams: Assign tasks, allocate resources, monitor performance, and guide direct/indirect reports through change while fostering growth and development. Drive Process Excellence: Enhance procurement practices with legal and internal teams, focusing on contracting, transparency, and innovation for consistent, high-quality service. Act as a Strategic Leader: Serve as a subject matter expert, delegate for Director when needed, and collaborate with procurement leadership to optimize category management and performance. Basic Qualifications
8 or more years of Strategic Sourcing experience. 5 or more years of supervisory/people leadership experience, coaching and employee development. 5 or more years of experience working with vendors and complex agreements in the Marketing or Marketing related industry. 5 or more years of collaborating with, building relationships with, and influencing senior level and -C-suite stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree or equivalent work experience. Expert financial analysis and business acumen skills. Understanding of modern-day Marketing. Experience in strategy and negotiations of enterprise-wide, complex agreements. Organized and able to effectively manage several responsibilities/projects at once with ability to prioritize for self and teams. Demonstrated ability to self-start. Excellent communication and presentation skills to all levels of an organization. Ability to build and sustain an engaged, diverse, highly skilled team and to oversee performance and development of multiple team members. Experienced leader within a fortune 200 company, equivalent minimum of Associate Director level. Possess natural curiosity, asking questions when necessary to understand a problem.
