Job Title: Art Director, Performance Creative
Type: Full-Time
About the Role:
Our client, a SaaS company in the marketing tech space, is hiring a Performance Art Director to lead the development of high-impact ad creative across paid digital channels. This is not a generalist AD design role. They are looking for someone with deep expertise in performance media — someone who understands how to build conversion-focused creative, test at scale, and iterate based on real results.
In this role, you’ll own the visual strategy and execution of paid campaigns across Meta, YouTube, Google, LinkedIn, and other key platforms. You’ll collaborate closely with performance marketers, copywriters, and analysts to develop creative that drives measurable growth. This role requires both strategic thinking and hands-on production, with a strong understanding of what drives performance at each stage of the funnel.
What You’ll Do:
- Own creative concepting and execution across static, motion, and short-form video formats
- Translate campaign goals and testing strategies into visual ideas built for conversion
- Build and manage modular assets designed for A/B and multivariate testing
- Use performance data (CTR, CVR, ROAS) to inform ongoing creative iteration
- Work collaboratively with growth, copy, and analytics teams on campaign execution
- Execute creative using Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects
- Independently manage design workload with minimal oversight
- Support the development of scalable design systems and templates for testing
- Utilize generative AI tools (Firefly, Midjourney, Runway, ChatGPT) to streamline production
Who You Are
- 8–10 years of experience in digital design or art direction with a focus on performance creative
- Background designing ads for B2B tech or SaaS products is required
- Not a fit for generalist or brand-only designers — must be fluent in paid media strategy
- Portfolio must show campaign results and creative tied to performance metrics
- Deep knowledge of platform-specific best practices (Meta, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn, Google)
- Confident in both creative strategy and hands-on production
- Strong communicator who can present ideas and defend creative choices
- Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working in test-and-learn environments
- Expert in Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, and After Effects
- Agency experience preferred, especially in performance or digital teams
- Must be available to work EST hours
Nice to Have
- Experience with UGC-style or lo-fi creative
- Familiarity with dynamic creative optimization (DCO)
- Experience across full-funnel creative — prospecting, retargeting, retention
- Ability to shift visual tone depending on product, audience, or funnel stage
