Administers and maintains all aspects of the Library Services Platform, including the ‘catalog database’ and public-facing discovery platform (Alma/Primo). Troubleshoots any issues that arise. Conducts regular assessment and reporting of the system; uses data and input from stakeholders to optimize system operations. Works with external groups as needed (SCC IT, PASCAL, and ExLibris). Creates appropriate documentation, conducts training, and offers support for library staff working in the systems.
Administers and maintains all other library systems and technologies, including Libguides/website, LibAnswers/Chat, LibWizard, Open Athens, and OCLC ILL/Cataloging. Troubleshoot any issues that arise. Conducts regular assessment and reporting of the systems; uses data and input from stakeholders to optimize system operations. Works with external groups as needed (Springshare, SCCOnline/D2L, SCC IT, etc.). Creates appropriate documentation, conduct training, and offer support for library staff working in the systems. Ensures accessibility standards are met for platforms and content.
Administers and maintains the library’s electronic resources (databases, e-journals, ebooks, streaming videos, etc.) including proper activation, analysis of use, maintenance, and cancellation. Troubleshoots any issues that arise. Works with external groups as needed (SCC IT, database vendors). Works with vendors to ensure accessibility standards are met electronic materials. Coordinates with other librarians/staff to promote patron use of the e-resources. Creates training or documentation of e-resources for library staff or SCC faculty, staff, and students.
Provides quality reference services and other general assistance to all patrons. General patron assistance includes activities such as computer and other equipment assistance, locating materials, etc. Records statistics for patron interactions. Also provides library and information literacy instruction at all locations and online, using a variety of available technologies.
Serves as SCC's PASCAL shared library system representative and actively participates in PASCAL, sharing information with other library staff as needed. In addition, represents the Library and SCC by serving on internal and external committees and boards as assigned and elected. Participates in library meetings (both full staff and relevant sub-teams). Pursues relevant continuing professional development such as workshops, webinars, conferences, discipline-based literature, etc. In particular participates in training for all systems to develop and maintain professional competencies in administering library systems.
Master's degree in Library or Information Science from an America Library Association (ALA) accredited university and two years of related experience. The ability to frequently move around the library to assist patrons.
Experience administering library systems, particularly ExLibris Alma / Primo VE; Open Athens, Alma Analytics, Springshare products (Libguides, LibAnswers/Chat, LibWizard), and managing e-resources. Knowledge of accessibility standards. Certified Alma & Primo VE Administrator. Experience teaching library instruction classes and providing reference services in an academic library.Ability to work afternoons/nights/weekends as needed for coverage. Occasional travel to SCC's campuses and off-site locations to teach classes or cover the library. Needs to frequently move around the library assisting patrons. Other physical demands include moving book carts, compact shelving (manual), and moving books and materials weighing up to 25 lbs. from shelving from ½ ft. to 6 ft. high and transporting them around the library.
