Job Summary
Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Music Direction, the Manager, Music Direction supports the creation of RWS experiences. This role acts as an in-house music director, primarily teaching or re-teaching show material to casts. The manager ensures brand standards are upheld and the creative vision aligns with client specifications.
Role & Responsibilities
- Direct and rehearse talent across RWS Global projects.
- Maintain a pool of music directors and vocal coaches.
- Compose, arrange, and assist with arrangements, BGV, and track recordings.
- Edit arrangements during rehearsals or installations, with major edits handled by the original arranger.
Rehearsal
- Conduct music direction for talent in US HQ Studios or on location, including teaching casts and seasonal coverage.
- Coordinate with Sr. Manager for seasonal music director contracts and payouts.
- Assist with scheduling MD coverage across projects.
- Ensure technical team has all audio files for rehearsals.
- Attend creative runs and talent welcome meetings.
- Review and give feedback on cabaret sets.
Maintenance
- Provide musical documentation and organize files.
- Travel on-site as needed for installations or standards compliance.
- Develop and update set lists and maintain communication with musicians and band leaders.
Supporting
- Assist casting in recruiting and evaluating performers.
- Work with Technical Manager on audio support.
- Contribute to cast vocal leadership decisions and onboarding.
- Troubleshoot onboard musical issues.
- Participate in auditions, including viewing tapes or attending in person.

Qualifications
- Experience in theatre or live entertainment.
- At least 2 years in a management role, preferably in theatre.
- Experience documenting show materials.
- Cruise ship or theme park experience is a plus.
- Proficiency with Sibelius, Dorico, Finale, Pro Tools, Qlab, and Logic.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office and Excel.
- Flexible schedule with ~30% international travel.
- Ability to work 6 days/week on-site.
