OVERVIEW AND RESPONSIBILITIES: KCAL News and CBS Los Angeles are looking for a Weather Producer to join the team! This person excels at translating weather models and data into weather stories every day and works with the weather team to produce compelling, forward-looking weather forecasts with context and precision. The weather producer also needs a strategic understanding of weather programming execution based on forecast and conditions. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: Create graphics showing context surrounding weather patterns and trends Use IBM Weather Company computer system at a Super-user-level Help lead the process of AR/VR weather launch and work to create weather storytelling in that environment with the largest AR/VR set at CBS News & Stations. Build and modify weather execution strategy across dayparts BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 5+ years experience as weather/producer and/or broadcast meteorologist Bachelor’s degree or higher in atmospheric science or equivalent experience NWA, AMS, or CBM seal Expert-level knowledge of IBM Weather Company (WSI) ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Proven social media track record Full understanding of driving weather across social, digital, and streaming platforms. Strong people skills Hiring Salary Range: $110,000.00 - 125,000.00. The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
