About the Role:
Baker Barrios Architects is seeking an experienced and creative
Interior Designer 2
to join our team. This position is ideal for a licensed or non-registered graduate with 6+ years of experience. The Interior Designer 2 will be responsible for developing functional programs and design criteria for a variety of building types and project sizes. You will work closely with BBA Practice Leaders, clients, and project teams, guiding the development of design concepts and planning, and ensuring the success of projects from conception through execution.
Key Responsibilities: Develop functional programs and design criteria for a diverse range of building types and project sizes. Lead project teams in developing design concepts and deliverables while maintaining the integrity of the design within the project budget. Collaborate with BBA practice leaders, project managers, and clients to ensure project success. Communicate design intent clearly and effectively with the project team, clients, and consultants. Manage and direct project team efforts, ensuring timely completion and quality control across all design phases. Demonstrate creativity in design solutions and the ability to problem-solve, offering abstract and innovative ideas. Oversee material and palette selections, ensuring they align with project requirements and design goals. Maintain a strong understanding of construction methods, building systems, and applicable building codes. Qualifications:
6 to 8 years of professional experience in interior design, with a proven track record in leading design teams and managing projects from concept to completion. Professional registration is preferred, but not required. Candidates should be working towards licensure. Strong problem-solving ability and the capacity to leverage available resources for optimal outcomes. A keen design sense, with the ability to think creatively and abstractly. Proficient understanding of materials, finishes, and palettes, with a focus on design integrity and functionality. Strong knowledge of construction means and methods, as well as building systems and codes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and client presentations. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Autodesk Revit, Adobe Suite, and experience with Newforma, Ajera, or other project management software is recommended.
