Summary:
Responsible for communication coordination and transport logistics for all internal and external customers of the Baptist Health Command Center, including 911 dispatch, aircraft flight crews, pre-hospital health care providers, case managers, and other qualified callers. The Communication Coordinators' essential functions and responsibilities include the coordination of all Baptist Health EMS 911 calls, triaging requests for emergency medical services, and ensuring appropriate and timely response by emergency personnel. Coordinates the initial communications of public, private, and flight-related calls coming into Baptist Health, including NICU and specialty transports, tracks arrival times of all incoming patients accepted through the Command Center, coordinates transportation of discharged patients needing EMS transport, and computer data entry into multiple computer programs. Operates multiple line telephone systems that receive 911 calls and non-emergency calls and determine the priority and type(s) of response required. Assists with patient movement during disaster situations, and tracks system hospital diversion, and other Duties as assigned.
Other information:
EDUCATION: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE: Must have 1-2 years of dispatch experience or experience with medical terminology used by Emergency Medical Technicians or other certified or licensed providers, comfortable using computer-based technology, and have the ability to multi-task efficiently with little supervision, work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects and has a strong attention for detail.
CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, BONDING: preferred licensure as an LPN, EMT/Paramedic, as required by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing (ASBN)/Office of EMS, or equivalent years of healthcare experience.
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Works in a clean, well-lighted, air-conditioned environment. Exposed to continuous CRT use with high visual demands. Minimal lifting on an infrequent basis.
This job will be authorized 0.01 hours bi-weekly.
