Job Title: Music Minister – Section Leader Exemption Status: Non-exempt
Department/Location: St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church / Oro Valley, AZ
Primary Function: Under the direction of the Liturgy/Music Director, is responsible for performing during the weekly liturgical music program for Sunday and liturgical celebrations. The employee shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching both academically and behaviorally while at work and in his/her personal life, “…Live in a manner worthy of the call you have received.” (Eph. 4:1)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of this Ministerial Position:
- Perform as a lay minister in support of the parish’s spiritual and pastoral mission.
- Recognize and support the unique Catholic Mission by speaking, acting, and instructing consistently with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church. The employee may not espouse, in word or deed, any doctrine inconsistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
- At the direction of and consultation with the Director (or Assistant Director) of Music, strengthen the core sound of the choir
- Attend rehearsals as scheduled by the Director
- Ensure that musicians and choir members are aware of Church protocol, including maintaining an environment of respect and solemnity at all liturgical celebrations
- Attend scheduled rehearsals, masses, and other choir or church functions as scheduled by the Director (or Assistant Director) of Music and provide technical assistance in rehearsals and sectionals as necessary
- Work collaboratively with other section leaders to ensure a healthy balance of sound, both musically and spiritually
- Be professional and perform as liturgical role models for other choir members, in accordance with Church protocol, including maintaining an environment of respect and solemnity at all liturgical celebrations
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment; punctuality is expected at all times
- Perform tasks in a timely manner
- Weekend and evening work is required
- Professional bearing; clean and neat personal appearance
- Ability to successfully pass a background, criminal history, and credit history check
- Bachelor’s degree in music (voice, music education, etc.) or equivalent experience in music
- Experience collaborating with other singers and instrumentalists
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
