Job Title: Content Marketing Manager
Department: Development
Position Status: Full-Time, Exempt
Reports To: Executive Director
Schedule: Monday - Friday, Occasional Weekend & Evening Availability (40 Hours per week)
Starting Pay: $50,000 - $60,000 annually (Based on experience)
POSITION SUMMARY
The Content Marketing Manager is responsible for fundraising marketing, communications, digital marketing, and social media outreach to increase awareness of the Blue Ridge Humane Society's programs, services, events, and community engagement.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support and maintain the vision, mission, priorities, and guiding principles of BRHS.
- Establish meetings and implement processes to determine communication needs, strategy, schedule, and opportunities.
- Work across all departments to ensure brand consistency and information accuracy for publications, website, and media.
- Create thoughtful, educational content to ensure current and prospective donors are informed and engaged with our work.
- Enhance stewardship of donor communications by creating follow-up content and campaigns for donors.
- Identify and execute digital opportunities to inspire our community to engage with Blue Ridge Humane Society.
- Generate content and engagement across all digital media platforms that moves users to donate and/or fundraise.
- Write and disseminate all press releases, media alerts, and informational documents.
- Serve as the main point of contact for all media and address media requests.
- Track media coverage and work to expand and build meaningful relationships with an established media database.
- Research media coverage and industry trends.
- Maintain brand consistency across all platforms and materials.
- Design and create collateral for organization, fundraising, events, and campaigns.
- Manage the inventory and ordering of all promotional and marketing materials.
- Design quarterly newsletter and annual report, flyers, banners, posters, infographics, and other marketing materials.
- Maintain photo and video library.
- Manage existing social media platforms and identify new opportunities to remain current with trends and best practices.
- Create content for a compelling content calendar and campaigns reflecting the Blue Ridge Humane Society's mission to fuel audience and traffic growth.
- Lead social media strategies that ensure all content aligns with the BRHS's mission, vision, and marketing goals.
- Manage ad campaigns and digital fundraising strategies.
- Collaborate with local social media influencers to advocate for the Blue Ridge Humane Society's mission and support revenue generation and brand awareness goals.
- Create and update content for the Blue Ridge Humane Society's website, collaborating with the web developer when necessary.
- Utilize assessment tools such as Google Analytics to analyze website performance and identify improvements in user experience.
- Create email campaigns, including monthly eNewsletter.
- Oversee email lists, segmentation, and content development.
- Analyze email and social media metrics, share results, and adjust strategies based on outcomes.
- Represent Blue Ridge Humane Society at industry meetings or community initiatives when assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Work is evaluated by periodic checks for overall effectiveness and results achieved. Written evaluations are done at the end of the initial probationary and annually thereafter on the anniversary date. Operational guidelines are set forth by the Executive Director and presented in the Employee Handbook as well as in department Standard Operating Procedures.

- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience required meaning communications, marketing or a related field.
- Proficiency in Canva, WordPress, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, InDesign, Microsoft Office Suite, Constant Contact, and social media platforms.
- Must embrace the mission of Blue Ridge Humane Society.
- Strong interpersonal and writing skills.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to follow through on tasks and goals.
- Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members, and other volunteers.
- Be a self-starter and goal-driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.
- Ability to work with a diverse population and establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with the public, donors, volunteers, staff, and management in a respectful and courteous manner.
- Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense, and good listening skills.
- Proactively and consistently demonstrates friendly, engaging dialogue with event attendees, visitors, donors, volunteers, board members, and committee members.
- Must have a good sense of humor and enjoy working in a relaxed office environment.
- Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and carry small parcels, packages, and other items, to walk short distances, and drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials.
- This individual may be working with potential biohazards related to animal exposure (airborne allergens, contact reactions) and may be exposed to animal diseases and/or diseased animals. Must be able to work safely with a variety of cleaning materials.

- Must love animals AND people!
Must be willing to give permission for a background check and a DMV report. Must possess a valid, unrestricted North Carolina driver’s license with a driving record acceptable by Blue Ridge Humane Society’s insurance carrier. May be asked to submit to drug testing during employment.
