BS in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors Engineering, Industrial Design, or related disciplines and typically 15 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experienceMinimum 10 years relevant experience (Human Factors Engineer, Interaction Designer, UI designer, and/or Visual Designer) with a focus on mobile and web applications supporting complex user workflowsKnowledge and application of Apple iOS and Microsoft UWP interface guidelines to the design of native mobile productsHas full knowledge of other related disciplinesRecognized as a job expert within the department/organizationResponsibilities
The Lead User Experience Specialist will work independently with the business client and project teams as part of the Product Design teamResponsible for the execution of usability analysis, design, and development of system user interactions as well as development and maintenance of user interface architecture and design patternsWork directly with developers, customers, stakeholders and users to develop strategies and specifications to create/improve the performance, usability and effectiveness of native mobile and/or web-based software applicationsDevelop and maintain user interface design patterns, graphics, and style guides for user interfacesEnsure availability and application of architectures, design patterns, and style guides with the Business Technology (BT) organizationDevelop and maintain wireframes and/or use case artifacts that communicate the desired product workflowWork independently or with other UX specialists and project teams to identify and define visual designs and usability requirements for the user experienceWork with business clients to ensure that the user interface meets the desired requirements during all phases of the projectManage consulting/contractor staff in execution of UX activities for assigned projectsPartner with internal mobile development team, business analysts, architects and BT business partners to deliver solutions to the business with high quality and elegant designProvide product design leadership in large or complex development projects involving application development, migrations, additions to existing applicationsParticipate in project meetings with other technical staff and business owners and subject matter expertsAssess and develop high level design requirements for project and communicate in writing or in meetings with development teamReview application in progress of development to ensure compliance with overall design parameters and corporate development standardsGuide programmers/developers on technical issuesDevelop or review development of test protocols for testing application before user acceptanceReview test results and direct further developmentServe as technical lead in course of large or complex projectMentor or guide the work of less experienced product design staffGuides the translation of complex requirements and wireframes into a user interface design by applying usability, human factors and user interface design principlesCreate a user interface design specification that efficiently and effectively supports the business need and user workDrafts and approves design guidelines, provides instructions to less experienced employeesGuides the analysis of complex requirements by overseeing or performing task analysis to identify task sequences and applying the information to design future task executionEnsures that all designs comply with visual design standardsLeads others in researching, evaluating, applying and measuring human factors, usability and user interface design principles to identify and diagnose complex usability problemsDetermines approaches and mentors less experienced employees in the definition, development and deployment of infrastructure products and services that support and enable the execution of the user-centered design process and usability engineering methodsProvides product design subject matter expertise in design sprint activities with product end-users (customers)Leads and coaches others on user-centered design process and usability engineering methodsOversees the identification of associated training resourcesWorks on the development of strategies to ensure effective, usable user interfaces that support users with information technologyContributes to the product design standards and best practicesProvides technical solutions to complex problems that require ingenuity and creativityExercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignmentGuides the successful completion of interaction design artifacts for major programs and function in a project leadership roleRepresents the organization as the prime interaction design contact on contracts and projectsBenefits
