The Creative Department is responsible for the design and production of all exhibits, advertisements, collateral support materials, web graphics (social media, website, and email) and on-property signage – from concept to delivery.Position Overview:
The Graphic Designer will consistently deliver on-brand designs for advertising and marketing campaigns and other collateral materials for a variety of departments within the institution. This position reports to the Director of Creative Design.Specific Duties Include:Production of a variety of design-related tasks to meet Museum goals, individual department goals and deadlinesBe self-motivated and proactive about upcoming projects and deadlinesUse of Basecamp (a project management tool) daily to gather job information, post designs, gather feedback, post edits and work toward a final productProject coordination with the Creative Department’s Project ManagerLearning institutional knowledge about the Museum in order to maintain our missionMaintaining a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Software and MacOSMulti-tasking and problem-solvingMentoring other designers when neededMinimum Requirements:Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or related field3-5+ years of working experience in a design industry or related fieldPreferred Qualifications:Project management abilityProfessional-level proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, with an emphasis in Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Knowledge of After Effects a plusPractical Knowledge of MS OfficeKey Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):Must have strong graphic design background and knowledge of basic principles of printing / file exporting to varied outputPositive attitude, excellent communication skills and the ability to work constructively with different departments and vendorsPossess strong conceptual ability and a proven work ethic to handle tight deadlines and large volumes of work across a variety of mediumsExecute projects in a timely and efficient mannerAbility to make time sensitive and critical decisionsDigital design experience with an understanding of various file types and sizesNote to Applicants:
