Description
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Processes invoices and credit card statements for payment in a timely manner; enters invoice and reimbursement data and creates batch payment reports in Financial Edge Accounts Payable module.
- Monitors library expenditures and encumbrances in all budget lines and generates monthly budget reports for the Seminary Librarian from Financial Edge General Ledger module.
- Compiles statistical data on library operations in LibInsight statistical database in collaboration with the Discovery Services Librarian.
- Participates in circulation desk staffing, providing a helpful and welcoming presence to patrons.
- Assists patrons in the use of the online catalog, databases, print collection, and e-resources.
- Answers patron ready-reference questions.
- Assists with the organization and description of archival collections as assigned, under the supervision of the Archivist.
- Orders and maintains supplies for the library.
- Prepares and tracks outgoing shipments of books and interlibrary loans.
- Assists with the processing of gift books, maintains the book sale corner, and scans and sends records of gifts to Institutional Advancement office.
- Participates in staff rotation of librarian on duty for evening/week-end coverage. Participates in library staff meetings.
- Under the direction of the User Services Librarian, assists with shelving, shifting, and general stacks maintenance of the print and other physical collections, including: planning and implementation of long- and short-term remedies for space constraints in BPL stacks and performing collections inventory.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Seminary Librarian.
Qualifications
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Competencies:
- Attention to detail, such as maintaining exact order while shifting and moving library materials.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, analytical skills, and ability to work effectively with coworkers, supervisor, and patrons required.
- Commitment to courteous and effective customer service.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree, preferred.
Experience:
- Some previous administrative experience required; experience in a library setting preferred.
- Familiarity with the Episcopal Church preferred.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability and willingness to learn new computer software programs.
- Data entry and business reporting skills with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to accurately file alphabetically and numerically according to library classification schemes.
- Ability to use integrated library system and other computer software applications.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Stand, walk, sit, type, reach outward, reach above shoulders up to 8 hours/day.
- Medium, occasionally heavy, physical requirements which may include, sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing, stooping, kneeling crouching, keyboarding, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, visual acuity to perform an activity such as reading and sorting library call numbers; viewing a computer terminal and reading.
- Physical dexterity to reach shelves of various heights, push full carts and lift heavy containers (up to 40 pounds) during a work shift.
