Bowhead seeks a Technical Writer/Editor to support the Expeditionary Warfare (JXN) – Small Arms Division at the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC). The role involves technical writing support to prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documentation, incorporating information from Program Office, customer, end user, project leads, and SMEs.

Responsibilities

• Develop diagrams, charts, and graphs to enhance understanding.
• Manipulate graphics, charts, diagrams, etc., for documentation.
• Edit and review drafts for format, clarity, and compliance with specifications.
• Create and maintain templates, DTDs, EDDs, read/write rules, and structure applications.
• Participate in project meetings and validation/verifications.
• Track documentation for development, planning, and scheduling.
• Collaborate with SMEs to ensure technical accuracy and clarity.
• Report obstacles or issues to leadership promptly.
• Interface with desktop publishers, logisticians, multimedia personnel, SMEs, and customers.
• Maintain records and participate in validation/verification events.
• Record and distribute meeting minutes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate's degree with 3-5 years of experience in proofing, editing, and formatting technical documentation.
• Master's Degree preferred, with background in technical writing or ordnance-related instructions and SOPs.
• Self-starter, capable of working independently and in teams.
• Familiarity with military supply chain processes and product lifecycle management.
• Expertise in Microsoft Office suite.
• Effective communication skills across all levels.
• Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment.

Physical Demands

• Lift up to 25 pounds.
• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Twist, bend, and squat periodically.

Security clearance: Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance; US Citizenship required.
