Under the supervision of the Library Director and Law Library Board's guidance, this 40-hour professional role manages the law library, develops the adult print collection for the public branches, as well as assists attorneys, staff, and pro se litigants. Responsibilities include coordinating law library operations, providing reference and reader’s advisory services, and serving as librarian-in-charge when needed. Primarily based at the Law Library and Chanhassen Library, with some telecommuting options.
Responsibilities:
- Provide legal research assistance, reference services, and resource training while managing the law library’s collection.
- Assist self-represented litigants with legal resources and court procedures.
- Develop the public print collection for adults.
- Manage a collection budget.
- Provide oversight to the law library budget.
- Provide direct customer service to library customers of all ages.
- Routinely serve as librarian-in-charge of a library branch in the absence of the branch manager.
- Perform other duties of a comparable level or similar nature.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Library or Information Science or related field and three (3) years of library experience.
- Or Master's Degree in Library or Information Science or related field.

The highest ranked candidates meeting minimum qualifications will be recommended for the scored oral examinations (interviews). Final selection for the position will include successful completion of oral interview(s), reference checks, and background investigation.
